ACTIVE RECOVERY
The Active Recovery
Initiative: Rebuilding Through Motion.
At VPT Performance, we believe that high performance on the court is meaningless without a commitment to healing off the court.
As a clinician, I have stood on the front lines of the addiction crisis. I have seen firsthand how devastatingly it fractures families, strips away personal sovereignty, and isolates the mind. But I have also witnessed the breathtaking beauty of the human spirit when it reclaims its power and achieves sobriety.
We built the VPT Active Recovery Initiative because long-term recovery requires physical stewardship, intense focus, and an unshakeable community.
The Isolation Trap
Addiction is a disease of isolation and neurological hijacking. The clinical data surrounding this crisis requires an uncompromising look.
The Neuro-Chemical Deficit
According to data from the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), addiction deeply alters the brain’s reward circuitry, specifically down-regulating dopamine receptors. In early sobriety, the brain struggles to experience natural pleasure, creating an intense psychological unrest that contributes to high relapse rates.
The Power of Connection
ASAM and broader psychiatric research continuously show that sustained social connection and structural routine are the single greatest predictors of long-term sobriety.
Our Uncompromising Commitment
We do not believe in corporate virtue signaling or creating complicated administrative fluff. We believe in direct, transparent financial support for the people doing the real work on the ground.
